About the AMSOIL
Corporation
| The
Recognized Leader....
At the heart of every successful
business venture you'll find two things: technical innovation and
business foresight. Lieutenant Colonel A.J. Amatuzio demonstrated
his keen understanding of these driving forces when he founded AMSOIL
INC., "The First in Synthetics."
As a jet fighter pilot Al
Amatuzio witnessed the extraordinary benefits of synthetic oils used in
jet engines. Seeing the need for these benefits in vehicles, he
formulated the first synthetic motor oil in the world to meet American
Petroleum Institue (API) service requirements for automobile
engines. Other companies claimed that synthetic lubricants bore no
significant advantage over conventional petroleum oiils. That was
1972. Nearly thirty years later, the benefits of synthetics are
widely recognized, and those same companies have followed AMSOIL's lead by
developing their own synthetic blends. |

How Do I
Install AMSOIL Synthetic Oils?
Making the switch to AMSOIL Synthetic Oil is easy to do, but there are some
recommendations to follow which will help you make the switch from conventional
petroleum oils to AMSOIL.
For New Vehicles with less than 10,000 miles: Simply drain your
oil and change out your old oil filter. Replace with AMSOIL Synthetic Oil
and an AMSOIL SDF Oil Filter. If your vehicle is brand new, I recommend a
break-in period of 4,000 miles with conventional petroleum oil before switching
over to AMSOIL Synthetic Oils.
In mechanically sound engines with over 10,000 miles: AMSOIL
recommends flushing your engine before installing AMSOIL Synthetic Oils.
Flushing your engine with AMSOIL Engine Flush will remove the deposits caused by
using conventional petroleum oil from inside your engine around the pistons,
rings, seals etc.
To flush your engine, remove your old oil filter and install a new oil
filter. Do Not Drain your Oil yet! Add 1 can of AMSOIL Engine Flush
(use 1 can per 6 quart capacity). Start your engine and run the
engine above an idle for approximately 15 minutes. Do Not Drive
Your Vehicle during this time as the Engine Flush thins out the
oil! Turn off your engine and drain the old oil and remove the oil
filter. Install a New AMSOIL SDF Oil Filter and Install AMSOIL Synthetic
Oil.
Note: Never flush your Automatic Transmission, Motorcycle or ATV
Engine.
To Switch to AMSOIL Synthetic Oil without using AMSOIL Engine
Flush: Some customers prefer not to use an engine flush
when switching to AMSOIL Synthetic Oil but would rather allow the Synthetic
Oil to naturally clean and remove the deposits from inside the engine.
This method will clean your engine the same as using the engine flush but takes
a longer period of time. To switch to AMSOIL without using the engine
flush -- drain your oil; replace your oil filter with an AMSOIL SDF Oil Filter
and add AMSOIL Synthetic Oil. Because AMSOIL Synthetic Oil will naturally
clean your engine from the deposits left behind by conventional petroleum
oils, you will need to change the AMSOIL SDF Oil Filter after
2,000 miles and then add AMSOIL to bring the oil level back up to the full
mark. This filter change is necessary because the AMSOIL SDF Oil
Filter will be near its capacity trapping engine deposits during this cleaning
process. If your vehicle has over 50,000 miles or if your old oil was
extremely dirty, you will need to change out the AMSOIL
SDF Oil Filter again at 5,000 miles -- Again adding AMSOIL to bring your
oil level up to the full mark. After this cleaning process, you should be
able to start using the AMSOIL recommended oil and filter change intervals.
Be aware that during the cleaning process, whether you used the engine flush
or without the engine flush, you may or may not notice slightly increased oil
consumption. Depending on the internal condition of your engine, this can
be as little as a few hundred miles or as long as a few thousand
miles. Most of my customers do not even notice this, but it is something I
want you to be aware of so that you will understand this process. This is
normal and the oil is doing what it is supposed to do.
A quick word about Synthetic Oil and Engine Seals: Many have
heard that synthetic oils cause engine seals to leak. Synthetic Oils
Do Not cause seals to leak, they may only reveal an
existing leak and seal that is bad and needs to be replaced. Seals can dry
out and become cracked when you have used conventional petroleum oils for a long
time. If your engine leaks oil, you will need to repair the leak before
switching to AMSOIL.
Switching your vehicle over to synthetic lubricants if it is not mechanically
sound is not recommended. AMSOIL Synthetic Oils will not correct any
mechanical problems or defects. If you have any questions, don't hesitate
